Application of the symplectic finite-difference time-domain scheme to electromagnetic simulation

چکیده
An explicit fourth-order finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) scheme using the symplectic integrator is applied to electromagnetic simulation. A feasible numerical implementation of the symplectic FDTD (SFDTD) scheme is specified. In particular, new strategies for the air–dielectric interface treatment and the near-to-far-field (NFF) transformation are presented. By using the SFDTD scheme, both the radiation and the scattering of three-dimensional objects are computed. Furthermore, the energy-conserving characteristic hold for the SFDTD scheme is verified under long-term simulation. Numerical results suggest that the SFDTD scheme is more efficient than the traditional FDTD method and other highorder methods, and can save computational resources. 2006 Elsevier Inc. A Study of Electromagnetic Radiation from Monopole Antennas on Spherical-Lossy Earth Using the Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method
Radiation from monopole antennas on spherical-lossy earth is analyzed by the finitedifference time-domain (FDTD) method in spherical coordinates. A novel generalized perfectly matched layer (PML) has been developed for the truncation of the lossy soil. For having an accurate modeling with less memory requirements, an efficient "non-uniform" mesh generation scheme is used. Also in each time step...

Abstract—The high-order symplectic finite-difference time-domain scheme is applied to modeling and simulation of waveguide structures. First, the perfect electric conductor boundary is treated by the image theory. Second, to excite all possible modes, an efficient source excitation method is proposed. Third, the modified perfectly matched layer is extended to its high-order form for absorbing t...
متن کاملApplication of the high-order symplectic FDTD scheme to the curved three-dimensional perfectly conducting objects
A high-order symplectic finite-difference time-domain (SFDTD) scheme using the diagonal split-cell model is presented to analyze electromagnetic scattering of the curved three-dimensional perfectly conducting objects. On the one hand, for the undistorted cells, the fourth-order accurate spatial difference is employed. On the other hand, for the completely distorted cells, the treatment of the c...

متن کاملA Generalized Higher Order Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method and Its Application in Guided-Wave Problems
In this paper, a (2 4) scheme of the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is proposed, in which the time differential is of the fourth order and the spatial differential using the discrete singular convolution is of order 2 . Compared with the standard FDTD and the scheme of (4, 4), the scheme of (2 4) has much higher accuracy. By choosing a suitable 2, the (2 4) scheme can arrive at the...
